Active from about 1977 to 1991, Crime & the City Solution had 4 distinct line-ups, all of which featured Simon Bonney. Rowland S. Howard (along with Harry Howard, Epic Soundtracks and Mick Harvey) was a member of the 3rd line-up based in Berlin/London from 1985 to 1986. They were featured in Wim Wenders' 1987 film Der Himmel über Berlin, performing "Six Bells Chime".
